At the end of a cleaning cycle or when the battery is running low, your robot returns to the Home Base® to charge. Your robot needs to find the infrared signal of the Home Base® to return.
Place the Home Base® in an open, uncluttered area:
Consistent Wi-Fi coverage will allow your robot to receive information via the iRobot® HOME App, and it will ensure that your robot can find its home when returning to the Home Base®. If your mobile device has Wi-Fi coverage in that location, your robot should have enough signal strength.
Keep the Home Base® on a level surface:
Keeping the Home Base® on a level surface and flat against a wall will help your robot clean more efficiently. Putting the Home Base® at an angle will cause your robot to clean diagonally in motion with the wall.
Positioning guideline:
We recommend you leave the following distances around the Home Base®:
- At least >1.5 ft (0.5 m>) on each side of the Home Base®.
- At least >4 ft (1.2 m>) in front of the Home Base®, with no furniture such as tables or chairs within this area.
- At least >4 ft (1.2 m>) between the Home Base® and any stairs.
- At least >8 ft (2.4 m>) from Virtual Wall® barriers.
Always keep the Home Base® plugged in to ensure your robot gets charged while on the base. When you plug the Home Base® into a power source, its power indicator light will blink green for few seconds to indicate it is powered on, then the green light will go off while the robot continues to charge. This occurs with robots and Home Bases® equipped with an energy-conserving feature.
If your robot returns to the Home Base® and is unable to dock, it will try again until it docks successfully. When your robot makes a connection and docks successfully, the Home Base® power light will stop blinking and turn solid green.
