Error 520 means that your Roomba® was not able to communicate with its dock over Infrared Data Association (IrDA) communication. The robot may fail to evacuate if it cannot communicate properly. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue.

1. Ensure there are no other IR devices nearby causing interference.

2. Ensure there are no objects in-between.

3. Wipe the IR windows (robot and dock) to remove dust/debris.

4. Use the HOME button on the robot to send it back to the dock. IF it doesn't dock on its own, please place the robot back on the dock manually, making sure the contacts are aligned.

5. If the issue persists, reboot the dock and robot.

  • Unplug the dock for a few seconds and plug it back in
  • Reboot the robot through the app or by holding down the power button on the robot for 10 seconds while it is off the dock. Hold the button again for 3 seconds to turn it back on. Doing so should clear the error from the robot's memory. Try running Roomba® again

If the issue still persists, contact iRobot® Customer Care.
