What is refresh charge mode?

Article Details

When you see an Amber light with quick pulse on Roomba® 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 series, it means that your robot has entered a 16-hour refresh charge cycle when it senses the battery is significantly discharged. For some models, all indicators on the robot will turn off after 1 minute of charging. This is normal behavior, designed to conserve energy.

Refresh charge occurs if Roomba has been left off the Home Base® or charger for an extended period. This extensive charge refreshes the battery and extends battery life. For best results, please do not interrupt the refresh charge.

When the refresh charge is initiated, the CLEAN indicator (battery icon indicator for Roomba 700 and 800) will pulse quickly. The refresh charge cycle cannot be started manually; it only happens when it is needed.

Note: Refresh charge mode does not apply to the Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery.
