Press the bumper if you need Roomba to replay the spoken error message.
This error occurred due to the following reasons:
- On robots not equipped with rear cliff sensors (j9/j9+, i1/i1+, i2/i2+, i3/i3+, i4/i4+ and i5/i5+) when it is unable to back up any further due to a perceived safety issue
- There is a limited distance that the robot can safely back up to ensure it does not fall backward down a cliff
- If the robot gets stuck on a cliff, (such as a threshold or on the edge of a step) and when it tries to back up, the bumper is hit
- Spinning in place that depletes the amount of distance that the robot can back up
To recover from this error:
Move the robot to a new nearby location and press the button to resume the mission. If the robot still shows the same error, please perform the following:
- Clean the cliff sensors on the robot
- Perform a robot reboot
Note: You can also spray some can of compressed air into the cliff sensors to additionally clear them of debris.
If the message still persists, please contact iRobot Customer Care.
