Battery maintenance tips for Roomba®

With proper care, your robot's battery should last at least 2–3 years before it needs to be replaced. Here are some battery maintenance tips to extend battery life and keep Roomba® cleaning at peak performance:

  • Only use iRobot® batteries. All s, j, i, e, and 900 Series robots come with Li-Ion batteries. For other series, please confirm your battery type here

  • Ensure the robot is being charged at room temperature out of direct sunlight

  • Keep your robot clean. If it gets clogged with hair or debris, it will strain to work harder than usual and exhaust the battery faster.

  • Recharge your robot as soon as possible following each use

  • Keep your robot plugged in and charging on the Home Base® or Clean Base™ when not in use

  • If your robot will not be used for more than a few weeks, we recommend placing the robot in ship mode and storing it in a cool, dry place

  • If you can't or don’t want to put the battery in ship mode, we recommend you remove the battery from the robot and leave it outside the robot in a cool, dry area

  • Fully charge the battery at least once every six months for optimal performance

Please visit the iRobot Store - Parts and Accessories, contact iRobot Customer Care, or use an authorized retailer or partner to purchase a new battery.
