Error 44 means there may be an issue with the pump activating when Roomba® is attempting to start a mopping and vacuum mission. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Roomba® 100/1000 and 200/2000 Series
- Remove the robot’s bin.
- Locate and clean the metal contacts on the bin and robot. These need to connect properly for the robot to know the bin is installed. We recommend cleaning with a melamine foam or a clean, dry cloth to remove any grime or dust.
- Visually inspect the robot's two bin contacts. If one appears lower than the other, use a fine-tipped tool to raise the contact, such as a pair of tweezers.
- Reinstall the bin. Make sure the robot's bin is properly installed with both bin latches fully snapped in place and an authentic pad fully attached.
- Reboot the robot by holding down the power button on the robot for 10 seconds. Hold the button again for 3 seconds to turn it back on. Doing so should clear the error from the robot's memory. Try running Roomba® again.
Roomba® Max 700 Combo Series
Reboot the robot by removing it from the dock and holding down the power button on the robot for 10 seconds. Hold the button again for 3 seconds to turn it back on. Doing so should clear the error from the robot's memory. Try running Roomba® again.
Drain Mode
If error 44 persists after rebooting the robot, you may choose to empty/flush the clean water from the robot. Water will drain from the robot's internal clean water tank, so we recommend performing this action in a waterproof area, such as over the sink or outdoors. The robot light will flash red, and the robot will notify you of the steps to prepare the draining.
To perform this action:
- Press the HOME button five times in a row to start the draining process.
- Remove the robot’s mop. You can follow this article for instructions on how to do it.
- Press the POWER button three times, or the HOME button once, to confirm. The draining will start within 60 seconds.
- When instructed by the robot, remove the dirty water tank.
- Open the dirty water tank and empty the water. Once emptied, reinstall it into the robot.
- After the draining, tilt the robot to remove any water pooled beneath the roller mop area. (Note: After the draining is finished, the light will be solid white.)
- Once complete, dry any remaining water and insert the roller mop into the robot. The robot will confirm the installation of the roller mop.
