Error Two (2) means the multi-surface rubber brushes cannot turn.
Note: Thick carpet or high-pile rugs can potentially slow Roomba's brushes down too much, preventing them from spinning and resulting in an error 2. If you notice your robot says error 2 while on carpet, please also test Roomba on a hard floor to see if the issue persists.
Determining the source of the error:
- Remove the brushes: Open the Cleaning Head Module door by pushing on the green tab on the right side of the multi-surface rubber brushes and remove them from the robot.
Determining the source of the error:

- Test the robot without the bushes installed: Leave the brushes out and close the Cleaning Head Module door. Turn the robot over, place it on a flat surface, and press the CLEAN button.

- Does the robot still encounter an Error 2?
If no - Error two (2) clears and the robot runs, follow these maintenance steps:
Please inspect the brushes and remove any hair or debris, especially under the end caps. See Brush Care Procedures for help.
Reinstall the brushes and re-test the robot: Turn the robot over, place it on a flat surface, and press the CLEAN button.
If the robot continues to run without the error, please clean the brushes regularly, at least once per week.
If the error returns after reinstalling clean brushes, you may need replacement multi-surface brushes. Please visit the iRobot Store - Parts and Accessories or use an authorized retailer to order the brushes. If you believe you're in warranty, please contact iRobot Customer Care.
