A Wi-Fi connected robot will automatically update its software if a new version is available when it's connected to your Wi-Fi network or the internet, and is on its Home Base®. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours to receive a software update. Actual installation of software once downloaded/received should take approximately 10 minutes.
Over the air (OTA) software updates will occur only when your robot is not cleaning and is on the Home Base®. To check your robot's software, open the iRobot® HOME App and select More > Settings > About (robot name). To view details on specific software releases, see Software Release Notes.
If your robot is not receiving updates, please ensure:
- The robot is close to the router and in a warm location. Move the robot if necessary. Signal strength can be confirmed by looking at your mobile device's Wi-Fi signal icon in that area.
- Note: Roomba® 900 series owners can view a Wi-Fi signal strength map by signing up for the Wi-Fi Coverage Beta program in the iRobot® HOME App.
- Your robot is connected to the internet. Go to More > Settings > Wi-Fi Settings > Robot Wi-Fi Details. If the status is “Server Unreachable,” please check your firewall settings.
If your robot is stuck receiving an over-the-air software update, with a circling white light and unresponsive:
- Reboot the robot by holding the CLEAN button on the robot for roughly 20 seconds. Wait about 2 minutes for the robot to reboot, it will play a tune. Then test the robot again to see if it will work.
- Remove and reinstall the battery, then test once more
