The Roomba® 600 series error messages chart.

Roomba® will stop and will tell you something is wrong with a two-tone “uh-oh” sound followed by a narrated voice. Refer to the following chart to determine what to do with the message. Error messages can be repeated by pressing the bumper or the CLEAN button.

If Roomba® experienced a charging error, please consult the charging error messages chart. Roomba® will display a blinking troubleshooting indicator, “ERR” plus a number, or will say “Charging error” and a number. Indicator varies by model.

Roomba® has a side wheel hanging down or Roomba® is stuck.

The main brushes cannot turn.

“Error five (5). Spin Roomba's side wheels to clean.”

A side wheel is stuck.

“Error six (6). Move Roomba to a new location, then press CLEAN to restart.”

The cliff sensors are dirty, Roomba® is stuck, hanging over a cliff, or is on a dark surface.

“Error seven (7). Spin Roomba's side wheels to clean.”

A side wheel is stuck.

“Error nine (9). Tap Roomba's bumper to clean.”

The bumper is compressed or the bumper sensor is dirty.

“Error ten (10). Spin Roomba's side wheels to clean.”

A side wheel is stuck or its bumper is not registering obstacles.

“Error one four (1-4). Re-install Roomba’s bin, then press CLEAN to restart.”

Roomba is not detecting an installed bin.

Bin and Bin Contacts

“Error one eight (1-8).”

Roomba cannot return to the Home Base® or starting position.

Home Base and Charging Contacts

Roomba® plays a 4-tone song and says “Please charge Roomba.”

The battery is discharged.

Please charge Roomba®. If you are experiencing short runtime, please visit battery maintenance tips.

No voice message.

The bumper is not registering obstacles. Roomba® may be stuck in one (1) place.

Tap the bumper to confirm it is working properly. If this error occurs when Roomba® is circling, clean the wheels of hair and debris. If Roomba® is in an extremely large room, use a Virtual Wall® to create a smaller cleaning area.

If the message persists, please contact iRobot Customer Care.

For expedited service, please have the following ready:

  • Your robot charged and with you.
  • Your robot's Serial number.
  • For warranty claims: Proof of purchase (receipt or invoice for purchase from an authorized retailer).
